Led by Acen Mary of Pingire county in Teso sub region, supporters who want general Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Ugandan army commander to become president in 2031 have mounted a social media campaign to force Serere woman MP Esther Achom to publicly contradict and denounce middle east-based tik talkers who have been abusing Uganda’s next president and his prominent supporters in Teso region.
Those being abused on tik talk for being Muhoozi promoters include general Jeje Odongo, former minister Musa Ecweru, Peter Ogwang, Kasilo county MP Peter Paul Emaju and others. The tik talkers are busy telling ordinary people of Teso to discriminate and boycott these leaders.
While abusing the army commander and his leading mobilizers in Teso, the tik talkers who are children of Teso too but living in the middle east keep praising Esther Achom, something which has made intelligence think they are her supporters who she can control. They keep praising Achom for keeping away from PLU and Muhoozi politics and concentrating on getting reelected in 2031.
It’s against this background that pressure has mounted on her to openly criticize the middle east based tik talkers and strongly oppose them for abusing the president and his family members.
This is not going to be very easy for Achom because being seen to be openly embracing general Muhoozi and his PLU movement will annoy the tik talkers who will resort to destroying her politically on social media. It’s not clear how Esther Achom is going to balance the boat on this issue.
